Drilling Superintendent
Job Description
KAR OG Dima DMCC is seeking a qualified and experienced Drilling Superintendent to join our team in Erbil.
Summary:
Represents the Company in all drilling related activities required to drill, evaluate and effectively complete the planned drilling campaign. Works with the Drilling Contractor and co-ordinates all contractors to ensure efficient delivery of the well. First point of contact for emergency response and drilling issues. Ensures Company standards are applied and adhered to.
Reports directly to the KAR Upstream Group Drilling Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety and compliance – ensures that HSE and environmental company policies are adhered to and complied with. Leads by example, focusing on HSE initiatives and HSE performance.
- Operational Planning – plans the drilling operation from rig move to rig move off location and everything in-between.
- Emergency response – first point of contact if an emergency at the rig site. Implement emergency response plan to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
- Conduct morning calls and review morning reports from the drilling rigs with the Drilling Supervisor at the rig site and the Drilling Engineer. Ensure the operations are conducted in the best interest of the Company. Discusses future operations plans with the Drilling Supervisor and the Drilling Engineer in an effort to optimize and eliminate problems.
- Communicate effectively with the Drilling Supervisor and Drilling Engineer to ensure that all technical specifications of the Drilling Program and Drilling Manual are met.
- Encourage an atmosphere of teamwork among the drilling staff, rig site personnel, service providers and other disciplines.
- Conduct meetings through the term of the contracts, with service providers, to increase the efficiency of the service and help reduce or eliminate any potential problems.
- Provide technical trouble shooting when problems occur in the well or on the drilling rig.
- Perform periodic evaluations of the Drilling Supervisors, Drilling Engineers and Drilling personnel as directed.
- Monitor drilling expenditures on a daily basis with the goal of drilling the most efficient and cost effective wells possible.
- Coordinate with the Drilling Engineer, Material & Logistics Coordinator & Drilling supervisors the timely arrival of drilling equipment and services on wellsite.
- Ensure that wells are drilled and completed in a manner that meets the objectives of the Reservoir, Production, and Geological departments.
- Encourage and support HSE training and implementation of new procedures and guidelines. Attend the bi-weekly safety meeting in the field.
- Prepare weekly and monthly drilling operations reports.
- Technical review of all drilling programs and final well reports.
- Perform wellsite inspections to ensure that safety programs are conducted and monitored by the drilling contractors in a manner consistent with HSE policies in conjunction with the Senior Drilling Supervisors’ site specific HSE plan.
- Liaise with Construction personnel to ensure that well well pads are constructed to specifications, in a time and cost-effective manner.
- Liaises with subsurface, geology and production teams.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering field or Industry experienced to a high level.
- 15 years industry experience and 5 years in a Drilling Superintendent role.
- Demonstrated track record of managing multiple drilling rig operations.
- Strong knowledge of exploration drilling, development drilling including multi-well pad drilling, directional drilling, and latest drilling technologies.
- IWCF level 4.
